In recent months, sharply rising input prices, slowing retail sales and tighter credit have hit the bottom lines of hosiery manufacturers and their suppliers across the United States and around the world. Driven by a wide array of factors – from higher commodity prices and a weaker dollar to an ongoing downturn in national and global housing markets – they all add up to slimmer margins and weaker wholesale and consumer demand.
