The Environmental Sciences Laboratory supports the industry as it adjusts to an earth-friendly mode in U.S. manufacturing. Its mission is to assure that hosiery companies comply with clean water initiatives without a financial burden that takes it toll on the ability to compete globally.
Staffed by trained professionals, the center will analyzed chemical formulas for new programs, test comparisons for hazardous dyes, conduct tests for color fastness and dye formulas and also test samples for wastewater compliance and BOD levels.
American retailers often are surprised at the level of hazardous chemicals and dyes found in hosiery shipped from outside the United States. In countries where clean water and public safety are not top priorities, their manufacturers can use formaldehyde and other chemicals to achieve brighter colors. Such combinations and mixtures are not permitted in the U.S. manufacturing.
